In
the summer of 2005 after finding a new found love
for Manhunt and finding nowhere on the Internet
to further look into or discuss the game we became
frustrated at the lack of online resources for
Manhunt, the game had a fairly sturdy fan base
and no where for the fans to express their devotion
to the game. It was decided to create our own
source for Manhunt information; initially the
idea wasn’t to even publish the site, but
more for ourselves as a project. By the June of
05 the site was done and dusted and due to other
commitments we had to leave the site be.
In
the October of 2005 we uploaded part of the site
to a Geocities account with intent on shopping
the site around, hoping for a host. Then in the
November of 2005 we stumbled upon the Games Devotion
Network and decided to put in a request to DaMa,
he quickly agreed and within a week the site had
a host and domain name.
On
November 20th the site went online, the forums
were created and the first news posting was made.
The site was officially live and members began
to post and spread word of the site. Within a
single week we had 30 members posting on the message
boards.
The
site still didn’t have any identification
since it wasn’t intended to go on-line,
the name for the site existed in the URL only,
and as such the layout had to be altered to show
the title of the site. Over the period of the
following 5 months the site was tweaked and altered
in order to function more as a website. Not only
was the layout altered but the content also, since
the site was so quickly put online some elements
where left out and or forgotten about.

The
actual design of this layout is unfortunately
lost at current time. What you see
above is a rough approximation of
how the site looked. The first thing
you will notice is how everything
is addresses as though it is taken
from a film, such as 'cast and crew'
this theme was continued all through
this site design. The coloring was
also significantly different from
what was used on the forthcoming designs.
The primary purpose of this design
was to be used as a personal archive
of Manhunt information; this is very
evident from looking at the design
as it is not particularly web friendly
and is more inapt for say CD-ROM or
for storage on your own computer.
By clicking the above image you can
see a full screen screenshot of the
site at that current time. |

This
was the first version of the site
to be used publicly; it went through
various little changes. Such as the
logo being added, then it was changed
to a Christmas banner, followed by
a complete overhaul. The actual menu
even changed, around 4 times, and
the reason behind this was that some
if the page titles were a little misleading,
the content and way it was displayed
also was altered with through time,
such as the table format, coloring
and backgrounds. Sections where also
added, including the trivia and features
section. By clicking the above image
you can see a full screen screenshot
of the site at that current time.
The additional headers mentioned above
can also be enlarged. |

After
5 months of altering the content it
was finally decided to go ahead and
create a new design in order to deal
with many of the problems that had
been popping up. Many concepts where
created and tested before settling
on what you currently see, the primary
objectives with this layout where
to create a more user friendly, interactive,
content full website that would be
easy to update thus being able to
be kept on-line for a longer period
of time. By clicking the above image
you can see a full screen screenshot
of the site at that current time and
by selecting one of the three additional
headers you can see them as they were
originaly intended to be used. |

As
soon as Manhunt 2 was announced we
had to think about getting a newer
version of the site online, and as
quickly as possible, the old layout
was working so in order to save time
we decided to just enhance it rather
than start from scratch. We have titled
this version 3.5 since we don't believe
it was a big enough change to warrant
being version 4 but was a significant
amount of work so it is the mid way
point. |
